Questions & Answers

CoolSculpting’s proven technology causes cryolipolysis. Applicators expose the targeted fat cells to precise cooling, crystalizing them, and triggering apoptosis or “cell death”. Over the next couple of weeks, the lymphatic system metabolizes the destroyed fat cells and eliminates them as waste from the body.

CoolSculpting is for healthy men and women who combat stubborn bulges resistant to diet and exercise. The best way to determine whether this procedure is right for you is to schedule a consultation with Shiloh Medical Clinic. During your appointment we will discuss if CoolSculpting is the best way to sculpt a sleeker, trimmer looking body. Your medical provider will help you customize a treatment plan.

CoolSculpting results are long-lasting.  Conventional weight loss only shrinks fat cells, while cryolipolysis causes damaged fat cells to be eliminated from the body. These cells cannot grow back as they are permanently removed. Excessive weight gain may obscure some of your CoolSculpting results, so, it is essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Researchers noted the durability of CoolSculpting in a longitudinal study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology.  They evaluated patients for nine years following a single CoolSculpting treatment. Results remained evident after nearly a decade. The study concludes, “local reductions in fat [after a single CoolSculpting treatment] have significant longevity…suggest[ing] results from cryolipolysis may be very long-lasting.”

CoolSculpting applicators are pre-shaped and must fit the treatment area.  Small applicators are $750 and large applicators are $1500 – depending on how many areas you have treated. There are packages ranging from 25% to 40% off.

CoolSculpting cost varies depending on your treatment plan. During your consultation, your medical specialist will customize a plan for you depending on your area(s) of concern, size of applicators, number of recommended sessions, and your goals.

CoolSculpting is known for its safety, effectiveness, and minimal risks, making it the optimal choice for non-surgical body shaping. A clinical study evaluating the “Safety, Tolerance, And Patient Satisfaction with Cryolipolysis “concluded that “cryolipolysis is a safe, well-tolerated, and effective treatment method for reduction of subcutaneous fat.” Another clinical study confirmed these findings saying, “cryolipolysis is considered to be both safe and efficient with a high patient satisfaction rate.”

The journal of Dermatological Survey featured a study in which researchers analyzed 518 CoolSculpting patients. The researchers stated, “No significant side effects or adverse events were reported. The procedure was well-tolerated, with 89% of respondents reporting a positive treatment duration and 96% reporting minimal to tolerable discomfort. Survey results demonstrated 73% patient satisfaction, with 82% of patients stating they would recommend the cryolipolysis procedure to a friend.”

CoolSculpting risks are very low, and side effects are unlikely. However, it is not uncommon to experience tenderness and bruising around the treatment area. Typically, these symptoms are mild and disappear within a few days.

After your treatment, your lymphatic system takes a few weeks to process the destroyed fat cells. Individual results vary, yet some patients report visual fat reduction within 3-4 weeks. Sculpting continues for 3-4 months after the procedure. While some patients may look for quicker results, many find the timeline mimics natural weight loss patterns.

Most CoolSculpting patients tolerate the procedure very well. Individual experiences vary, but most patients report minimal or mild discomfort. It is not uncommon to experience some pulling and pinching sensations in the first five minutes of the procedure until the area becomes so cold that it is numb. There are no restrictions in activity after your treatments.
